IN JAMAICA: Prime Minister's permanent secretary, Onika Miller resigns

ONIKA Miller, the permanent secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), has resigned from the post. Her resignation will take effect on October 1, 2015.
In a statement yesterday, the Office of the Services Commissions (OSC) confirmed that Miller has resigned from the public service "to avail herself of an opportunity in the private sector".
MILLER… goes on October 1.
The OSC insisted that, contrary to a radio report yesterday, at no time during Miller's 19 years of service has there been any disciplinary or grievance matter for the consideration of the OSC pertaining to her work or conduct.
The Commission said Miller has given 19 years of "committed and exemplary service to the public service, with an unblemished record of contribution" to several ministries and agencies, including the OPM, Cabinet Office, Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, and Jamaica Social Investment Fund.
In the meantime, the OSC is completing the process of appointing a new permanent secretary for the OPM.

BY KIMMO MATTHEWS Observer staff reporter matthewsk@jamaicaobserver.com  Friday, January 16, 2015     A female police corporal and her male partner were yesterday killed in what was suspected to be a case of murder-suicide. The bodies of 28-year-old Pagiet Davie and her common-law partner, Sheldon Douse, were found at their Fairview Park home with gunshot wounds in the morning. Police theorised that Douse killed Davie in her sleep before turning the gun on himself. They leave behind a three-year-old son. The incident left relatives, friends and colleagues of the slain cop in shock. "All now I cannot believe that something like this happen. All now I feel as if I am dreaming. This can't be real!" exclaimed on unidentified family member who was on the scene.
