KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Area 4 Police are reporting that two of the main suspects in last night’s murder of policewoman Constable Crystal Thomas were captured early this morning and are now in police custody.
Confirmation of the capture of the two suspects came from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of Police Area 4, George Quallo.

“This is indeed a sad time for the Constabulary losing such a young member of the organisation under such tragic circumstances. The men and women of the JCF have however responded well and our work late last night and early this morning has led to the capture of two men who we believe were part of the group which murdered the young Constable. At this time we are not naming the suspects as interviews have to be done and also identification parades,” Quallo said.
Reports are that Constable Thomas had just left work at the Denham Town Police Station and boarded a bus for home. It is further reported that a robbery was taking place on the bus. The gunmen held up the driver at gunpoint and while the bus was traveling along Spanish Town Road, ‎ordered the driver to turn off the main road.
The brave female police officer, realising what was happening challenged the men and was fatally shot.
Her death has sent shock waves through the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
Scores of her colleagues are at this moment trying to come to grips with her brutal murder.
ACP Quallo said that during the course of today, he will be meeting with the staff of the Denham Town Police Station and that counsellors from the JCF will be on hand to assist. more
