KINGSTON, Jamaica – The third suspect in the murder of Constable Lynden Barrett escaped police guard at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) just hours after his arrest.
Police say Nicholas Drummond otherwise called ‘Titty Dollar’ escaped on Sunday evening while at the hospital for treatment.
A senior police officer told OBSERVER ONLINE that "late yesterday (Saturday) evening the suspect was taken to KPH for medical treatment and while there he escaped".
It has been reported that Drummond ran into the Pink Lane area of Kingston after leaving the hospital and was chased by policemen. However, the lawmen were attacked by gunmen in the area and were forced to retreat.
Reports are that during the attempt to recapture Drummond a policeman was shot and injured by the gunmen who had assisted the fugitive. The injured policeman has since been admitted to hospital.
Investigators have already charged two suspects who they believe were involved in the murder of Barrett on July 21.
‎They are Horatio Livine, otherwise called ‘Ratio’ and Gratiano Green, otherwise called ‘Beh Beh’.
They were arrested in August during operations in Manchester and Red Hills, St Andrew.
Barrett, who was assigned to the Kingston Western Police Division, was shot dead near Wellington Street, Denham Town.
