MORE CHEERS FOR OMI : Jamaican singer Omi has been nominated for a Billboard Latin Music Award....He is competing against Canadian singer Justin Beiber and British singer Ed Sheeran

Jamaican singer Omi has been nominated for a Billboard Latin Music Award.
He is competing against Canadian singer Justin Beiber and the Weeknd as well as British singer Ed Sheeran in the category Crossover Artiste of the Year.
The Billboard Latin Music Awards is scheduled to take place on April 28 in Miami, Florida. It will air on Spanish channel Telemundo. The awards is the longest-running and most prestigious award for the Latin music genre. It was first held in 1994. Prior to OMI, no other Jamaican artiste has been nominated.

In recent times, both Omi and Shaggy have charted on the Billboard Latin charts. Music producer Tarik ‘Rvssian’ Johnston has also produced hits for Latin artistes which have charted on the Billboard Latin charts.
Aside from the Billboard Latin Music Award, OMI is also nominated for two Radio Disney Awards, in the categories Best Song of the Year and So Happy Best Song that Makes You Smile, for his worldwide hit Cheerleader.
In the Nickleodeon Kid’s Choice Awards, he is up for Favorite New Artiste. That affair is scheduled for March 28.
Omi (given name Omar Pasley) shot to global fame with German producer Felix Jaehn’s remix of his 2012 single Cheerleader. That single topped more than 20 countries around the world, including the United Kingdom and the United States.
In a recent interview with the Jamaica Observer, the singer said with his new album out — Me 4 U — he was preparing for an international tour in the next couple of months.
He last performed locally at the Moon Palace Jamaica Resort and Spa in Ocho Rios, St Ann, on February 27.
