CRITICAL CRASH IN JA : 12 hurt in Mandela crash taken to the the Spanish Town Hospital

About 12 people were yesterday taken to the the Spanish Town Hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision at the Caymanas/Mandela Highway intersection in St Catherine.
A Toyota Hiace minibus, which was transporting passengers from Spanish Town to Portmore, and a Nissan motor car were extensively damaged in the collision.
Up to press time last night the driver of the motor car was unconscious and in critical condition.

According to Corporal Lloyd Wellington of the Ferry Police Station, the motor car was heading towards Spanish Town when it collided with the passenger bus which was turning right at the traffic light. The bus, the police corporal said, lost control and hit one of the posts holding a set of traffic lights. The motor car, added the policeman, also lost control and then slammed into the right pole for the traffic light breaking it.
Both drivers and their passengers reportedly received head injuries and broken bones.
According to Corporal Wellington, “It appears that both drivers were travelling at a high speed.”
In the meanwhile, Wellington, who did not say who was at fault in yesterday’s crash, warned that the police will be go after drivers of Hiace passenger buses who continue to put the lives of others at risk with their reckless behaviour.
“We are coming at them full force because they are driving without due care and concern for other users of the public thoroughfare,” he said.
Wellington said that following yesterday’s accident he seized licence plates from three minibuses for defective tyres and other offences.

And if that were the end of the story, the answer would be 2 + 10 + 4 = 16.  But in the final frame, the fruit are slightly different.  There is half a coconut, instead of two halves in the earlier example equation that establishes a value of two. And instead of the four bananas representing the value of four, there are just three bananas.  If the numbers are reduced along with the portions of fruit, you get a totally different answer: 1 + 10 + 3 = 14.   Which is the correct answer? Police: 22 y-o Devon Staples shoots off firework from top of his head, dies

CALAIS, Maine (AP) — A young man who was drinking and celebrating the Fourth of July tried to launch a firework off the top of his head, fatally injuring himself, authorities said Sunday. Devon Staples and his friends had been drinking and setting off fireworks Saturday night in the backyard of a friend's home in the small eastern Maine city of Calais, said Stephen McCausland, a spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety. Staples, 22, of Calais, placed a fireworks mortar tube on his head and set it off, he said. The firework exploded, killing Staples instantly, McCausland said. His death is the first fireworks fatality in Maine since the state legalized fireworks on Jan. 1, 2012, authorities said. Calais is on the Canadian border near New Brunswick. State fire marshals were also investigating several other Fourth of July fireworks accidents involving injuries in Friendship, Jefferson, Lebanon and Woodstock.
